Proud to sponsor the Highland Halloween House in Great Neck by Stan Levine, as seen in Newsday as a must-see event.
This year, Levine introduced a skeleton dressed as Bob Ross, the late host of PBS’ “Joy of Painting.” Another display includes a hearse pulled by a skeleton with a body inside that rises and falls. There is a tombstone with an arm that reaches around and tries to grab visitors. There are video projections of faces that sing and tell jokes, a huge spider perched on the roof that lights up at night, lightning and thunder effects, and a doghouse with double two-way mirrors that create the illusion of infinity.
Levine has been creating these big Halloween displays for about 15 years. Many of the displays he makes himself out of wood and take several weeks to make, he says.
That’s some view!

Here is a young Julius Marx (Groucho) and his brother Adolph (Harpo) in 1902. They moved to Great Neck after their move from the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Along with their brothers, Leonard (Chico) and Herbert (Zeppo) they became “Headliners” in Vaudeville on Broadway.

Because we have 9+ villages on the GN peninsula, each construction is in a different jurisdiction. That means each village board gets to decide the fate of each respective new development. There are pros and cons to new multi unit residential buildings.
Attention must be paid. Care, if you dare.

Fascinating to see Great Neck from this vantage point! These distinctive landmarks at North Station Plaza and South Station Plaza are immediately recognizable. The most iconic — the Grace Building with its domed roofline stands out —and has stood the test of time for over one century.

It’s a Beautiful Life.
Last night -11/2/24- to get a fright!! A “must ghoul” if you like scary things and spectacles. Pictured here, Stan Levine of Great Neck with friend Lance in front of “Highland Hallows” at 1 Highland Avenue. Stan and crew produced, installed and otherwise amazed thousands of locals in the past weeks, culminating in #halloween2024 on 10/31.
.
DGN is spotlighting @stan.levine.8 and his equally impressive wife Jordana Levine as stand outs in our community. They selflessly pay it forward and give back in countless ways, inspiring others to do the same, and we all benefit. A good thing, indeed.
.
On behalf of our town, thank you! See you next Halloween, but Stan, you’ll be hearing from us again sooner. #hanukkah is coming soon and word is out that you pull out all the stops! .
.
Everyone else—If you know of any happenings in town, have pics or videos to share, please reach out!!

Major kudos to the Stan & Jordana Levine, their daughter Ayden & crew, such generous, terrific hosts in every way. The Levine’s have tirelessly put this installation together ( year after year) —an awesome tradition, free to the public, a labor of love and sight to see for weeks, all coming together and culminating on a (fabulous- perfect weather) 10/31 (afternoon thru evening) event!!
