The Great Neck Pennisula
/Great Neck, New York, is a peninsula located on the North Shore of Long Island, in Nassau County. It is comprised of several incorporated villages as well as hamlets. The villages and areas within Great Neck include:
Incorporated Villages:
Village of Great Neck - Sometimes referred to as "Great Neck Village," this is one of the central areas.
Village of Great Neck Estates - A residential community with its own municipal government and some beautiful waterviews.
Village of Great Neck Plaza - This is the "downtown" commercial hub with many shops, restaurants, and access to the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR).
Village of Kensington - A smaller residential area with a park and quiet streets.
Village of Kings Point - Home to the United States Merchant Marine Academy and large estates.
Village of Lake Success - Located further from the water, known for its country club and golf course.
Village of Russell Gardens - A quiet, residential village.
Village of Saddle Rock - Located along the waterfront, it is known for its scenic views.
Village of Thomaston - Another residential village with its own government.
Unincorporated Areas:
In addition to the incorporated villages, there are some unincorporated areas that fall under the jurisdiction of the Town of North Hempstead. These areas are often considered part of the broader Great Neck area but do not have their own municipal governments.
Great Neck as a whole is known for its excellent public school district, close proximity to New York City, and diverse population.
